It cannot be denied that while some men would look good when they are a little scruffy, they are usually better in the eyes if they look clean and formal. However, it is not too often that we see a man wear tuxedos or in long sleeved collared shirts paired with silk ties and topped with coats.

So, where did the silk tie actually come from?
There are many theories about the origin of this remarkable fashion wear. According to history, they came from the cravats that Charles II popularized a long time ago. Later on, it came as another form of fashion in other places around the world just like the cowboy bandanas, evident in India, as well as those worn by sailors. It is in the corporate world, though, that men’s silk ties became more known to be, when they were used to complete the British look.
No matter where these silk ties really came from, it truly cannot be denied that they have become a big part for men in business. Because they are almost a necessity when it comes to business wear, they have also taken in various forms – the most common are the silk neck ties but there are also silk bow ties available on the market.
Both silk ties, of course, look good when worn over collared shirts and then topped with a coat. However, bow ties are mostly used for semi-formal occasions such as in fancy parties in the like. Silk neck ties may also be worn for such occasions but they are mostly preferred in the office – and they are taken off when party time comes.
Aside from the type of silk tie that you use, you might also want to keep in mind that the design of these items are a big factor to consider if you want to wear them. Different brands have different designs – some may be striped, in a single dark color or a light one, in polka dots and many more. They may even have the face of your favorite cartoon character or go with whatever the season currently is.
Whichever design for a silk tie that you choose though, you will have to remember that you should not only consider what your mood is when you wear them, you also have to make sure that they go with the rest of your outfit’s colors. Surely, you would not want to look like a walking Christmas tree in your office, would you?
Now, many people may think that getting mens silk ties would only add more hassles in their life, especially when it comes to cleaning them up, but they actually do not take much time and effort. All it would take you is a few drops of a stain remover that you can dab right away into your silk tie. If you cannot take the stain away, you can always send them out to the dry cleaners. In order to keep your silk ties in good condition for longer, also be sure to spray some fabric protection on them. This should not only keep your ties looking good but it will also make you look classy and professional looking.
