As wet clothing is a major reason for chafing, the material used in the men’s running shorts should have the property to wick moisture. Nylon and cotton shorts should be strictly avoided as they don’t have the tendency to wick moisture and hence they ate not anti –chafing.
Durability is another point which should be considered while buying a good pair of running shorts. It should also provide enough support to the runners without the use of a jock strap.
Running shirts and shorts are available separately for men and women because of the variations found in the body size and shape of both the genders. Some of the companies also manufacture unisex shorts which suit both the sexes equally. But it’s best to select the one which is most appropriate to your physique and personality.
Normally, running shorts men are sold in v-botch and split leg styles. The difference between the two styles is created b the outer seam on the legs. In a v-notch short, seams are constructed throughout the length of the leg unless the one inch from the end is notched upside down resembling the letter ‘v’. In the split leg style, there is no seam through the length of the leg; instead it overlaps the front panel over the back panel. It can vary from full split to a half split leg style in which half of the split is kept unsown but overlapping. This style provides more flexibility and hence it is the first choice of elite runners.
When it comes to the pocket, most of the shorts are comprised of small pockets designed on the inner part of the waistband. Sometimes, a large pocket known as nutritional pocket is also constructed on the back part of the short. Always prefer to have a wider waistband in your short and the pockets should be closely sewn to it. This will lower the risk of bouncing things while running.
