Band t shirts are extremely common. They depict a wearer’s favorite band or singing act, and is a way they can find and belong to groups of people all of which enjoy the same genre of music.

Vintage band t shirts have seemingly been around forever. They depict the major music movements of past decades and signify that the wearer is particularly tuned in to the past. Much of today’s music has been influenced by that of the past, making the vintage band t shirt a particularly important niche product. Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and The Who are all great examples. Many of the designs are now iconic in nature, worn also by those that have no clue who they are.

The serial collector, on the other hand, will be looking for specific designs much as a stamp collector looks for a rare stamp type.

There are several styles of band t shirt to suit all kinds of purchasers. Girl fit tends to be slimmer at the waist and flare at the base; larger sizes are available for the larger girth. There are heavier and lighter versions. The heavier tend to be more expensive. This is to be expected as they usually have a higher thread count, increasing overall quality. They tend to last longer, too.
Lastly, as far as styling goes, you need to consider sleeve length. Obviously, there are two: short and long. Shorter sleeve length is common to all types of wearer. The longer sleeved versions are also worn by all, however there seems to be a profusion of them, especially black, being worn by Goths and “Emo’s”.
Overall, band t shirts are inexpensive and cool. The fact that they are promotional in nature keeps the price down as the manufacturer is usually connected to the band themselves, who wish to advertise their product.
Newer bands tend to stock t shirts at their events that are far cheaper looking. However, there is certain kudos to be gained by the person that purchases one of these shirts and holds onto it until the band become a huge influence. Not always, but certainly something to be proud of.
